Customers dig deep for flood appeal

Customer-collectionGenerous customers visiting our stores in Carlisle and Harrington have been digging deep into their pockets to support the Cumbria Flood Appeal. Between December 2015 and March 2016, collections points at tills in the three stores raised an overwhelming total of £1,050.

Ian Brown, Chairman of Cumbria Community Foundation, the organisation which set up the flood appeal, visited our Rosehill store to collect the cheque. Ian was delighted with the generosity of shoppers and said: “I am genuinely amazed that so many people can put their hands in their pockets and give so generously at a time when they are facing their own problems. It really is humbling. We are working hard to help people and local organisations suffering hardship due to December’s events and the Cumbrian people have really pulled together to help each other.”

Douglas Middlemass, our Retail Manager was instrumental in supporting the fundraising effort and had nothing but appreciation for our kind customers: “We like to support local fundraising activities as much as we can: we are Cumbrian based and take pride in our county. We would like to thank all of our customers who gave to the appeal.”

Carlisle Youth Zone receives valuable funds

Carlisle-Youth-Zone-April-16As part of our ongoing commitment and support to the much loved and popular youth club in the heart of the city, we handed over a cheque for £1,500 in April. Carlisle Youth Zone has received our support for three years now and David Jenkins, our Sales Director, visited them to present the cheque.

Emma Rogerson, Community Development Coordinator at the Youth Zone says: “We will use these valuable funds to help towards recovery from the December floods. We play an important part in kids’ lives, many of whom have been flooded themselves, and we really want to get back to full membership again to provide this valuable space for them.”

Northbank-sponsorship-2016We have been one of the proud sponsors of the Northbank Football Club senior team for the 2015/16 season. The team plays in the Premier Division of the Northern Football Alliance with great success, and thanks to sponsorship have been able to buy a new home kit.

Peter Shepherd from Northbank Football Club recently presented David Jenkins our Sales Director with a team shirt. David was exceptionally pleased that it was a number 9 shirt – this was the number that he always wore when playing for the football team in his younger days!

Northbank Football Club has been running since 1970 and also has a very successful junior team which caters for children from age seven and above. For more information on Northbank Football Club, visit their website:
