Battlesteads wins top UK title

Battlesteads wins Considerate Hotel of the Year 2010 11Congratulations are in order for long-standing Pioneer customer the Battlesteads Hotel & Restaurant in Wark, Northumberland. They have been declared the UK's Considerate Hotel of the Year 2010/11 by the Considerate Hoteliers Association (CHA).

They beat off nationwide competition to be crowned the best 'all-rounder' establishment for succeeding in a range of environmental and social initiatives. The judges commented: "Battlesteads provided an outstanding entry and is a very worthy winner. They have tackled difficult issues such as waste and energy use, and addressed many areas of their business in their mission to improve their sustainability."

Battlesteads owners Richard and Dee Slade attended a ceremony at The Savoy in London where they received an inscribed Dartington Crystal decanter to add to their impressive collection of prestigious trophies.

Tempest Arms is UK's top food pub

tempestThe Tempest Arms in Elslack near Skipton was crowned national Food Pub of the Year in the Great British Pub Awards 2009. The establishment, which is run by Martin and Veronica Clarkson, saw off competitors from across the country to secure top prize at the awards ceremony at London's Hilton Hotel.

The judges said "The food at The Tempest Arms is everything that is great about traditional pub fare - high quality, good value dishes presented in a relaxed and informal environment."

Pioneer would like to congratulate Martin and Veronica on their achievement, who we have supplied with fresh meats, frozen foods and groceries for a number of years.
