Donation helps out the youth zone

On Tuesday 21st March, we visited Carlisle Youth Zone to present a cheque for £1,000. As part of our ongoing commitment and support to the youth club in the city, we make an annual donation. For over four years, we have provided funds to help the organisation provide activities and a safe environment for children and young people to enjoy.

Youth zone 2017After suffering major loss in the 2015 flood, Carlisle Youth Zone has been working hard to get back on its feet and provide full facilities once again. This donation will help towards providing first-class kitchen facilities so visitors can enjoy a wide range of food during their visit.

Our sales manager, Gemma Hodgson handed over the cheque to Lynsey Buckle who is the development manager at the Youth Zone.

Walton Young Farmers get judging tuition

On Tuesday 21st March, we welcomed the Young Farmers from Walton, near Carlisle to our depot. They were taking part in carcass judging tuition. The challenge for the visitors Walton YF 1was to judge three locally sourced lambs and two whole pigs. David Jenkins, our sales director, helped and guided them to the key features and attributes they should be looking for, i.e. fat cover, thickness of back, shape of forequarter.

A Field Day competition takes place on 13th May where 25 Young Farmers clubs from across Cumbria come together to compete in a range of activities. Carcass judging is just one of the competitions that Walton Young Farmers will take part in, so with expert tuition from David, we’re sure they’ll do well!
